Split Bill helps people scan receipts, split shared costs, and share payment details with the people involved in a bill. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can reach us about it.
1. Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to run the app experience:
- Account details such as name, email address, profile photo, and phone number when available.
- Payment handles you choose to save and share, such as wallet usernames, account details, or payment links.
- Receipt images and extracted receipt data so the app can build an itemized bill.
- Push notification tokens and device details needed to deliver updates about bills and payments.
- Hashed or matched contact data when you explicitly grant contact access for finding friends who already use the app.
2. How we use the data
- Authenticate your account and secure the app experience.
- Scan receipts and prepare editable bill breakdowns.
- Assign items, calculate participant totals, and store payment progress.
- Send notifications about new bills, reminders, payment proof, and accepted payments.
- Help you reuse saved payment methods across future bills.
3. Third-party services
Split Bill relies on trusted providers to deliver core functionality, including Firebase for authentication and cloud data, and OCR or AI services for receipt extraction. These providers process data only as needed to provide their part of the product experience.
4. Money movement
Split Bill does not move money between users. The app helps people understand what they owe and where to send it, but payments happen directly between participants using the methods they choose.
5. Data retention
We retain account and bill data while your account stays active and while unsettled bills still need context for participants. If you delete your account, we remove or anonymize personal profile information while preserving any minimal bill history needed so other participants are not left with broken records.
6. Account deletion and rights
You can delete your account from the app settings. You may also request a copy of your data, ask for corrections, or raise a privacy question by emailing omar.mahmoud1@gmail.com.
7. Children's privacy
Split Bill is not intended for children. If we discover that personal data was submitted by a child in violation of local requirements, we will remove it.
